Aug 12, 2020 · I would never consider a LML after owning a L5P. $1500 to delete a Cummins or LML. $7,000 to delete an L5P. $3,000 to convert from a CP4 to CP3 on the LML. $700+ to level the GMC/Chevy compared to $100 to level the Ram. Personally, I would never consider long-term ownership of a modern diesel with emissions intact. Duramax L5P Engine Failures. I am not suggesting that there is any problem (s) with the 2017 to current L5P Durmax Engines. I am curious owning a 2021 L5P myself if anyone has had any serious issues with this engine. In doing research I find problems like NOX Sensors, DEF heaters / tanks, and injector electrical plugs, but that is about it.Having some issues with my 2017 l5p. Have been getting the p0191 code for the last year and a half. Very intermittent sometimes it’ll go into engine reduced power 5 times in a 20 minute drive and other times it won’t at all. Have changed the fuel pressure sensor and pigtail. Which did fix it for a couple thousand miles.L5P fuel filter failure. After being down for weeks I finally took off on another haul yesterday and almost made it 100 miles. Pulled over and shut the truck off. Came back out and all it would do is crank. No start. Tried a few things that didn’t work then dropped the new GM fuel filter for a look.Fortunately I have the extended warranty on my 2017, which covered the reservoir replacement with a $50 deductible. I recently bought the UView 550000 Airlift Cooling System tool with plans to perform the drain and flush on my 3500HD Duramax (61k) and wife’s ‘17 2500HD gasser (58k). the videos make it look pretty simple.

This VSE unit IMO is best since there is filtration AFTER the WIF sensor. Single filter L5P aftermarket units the WIF sensor is on the 'clean' side of the filter....if the water light comes on then it's too late. Stock filter has 2 sets of filter media in it, main one before the WIF and a secondary filter bit after the sensor.The chart below shows general L5P Duramax maintenance and service intervals. You can do a level lift like Rough Country and Super Lift and turn up the keys and 35s will clear provided you don't go to negative on offset. They used MDI2 GDS Software to conduct the requested relearn, however, the initial "counts" show 287 exceeding the max value of 285 per the GDS software, so now code P100B displays with CEL at ignition on, engine on.
